Conservation Easements

The Campton Township Open Space program holds conservation easements on over 170 acres of various properties throughout the township.  This means that the township owns the development rights to the land, and is responsible for annual inspections to ensure that the site remains undeveloped.  These easements are passed along with the deed if the property is sold to a new owner.  Conservation easements are one more way for the township to protect the environmental value of the land, but without incurring the cost of maintenance.
